So who are we, this group that calls itself the Sand and Sage Sports Car Club? We can tell you we've been around the Tri-Cities since 1953 and that we host autocross events, but that's not really what you need to know, is it? We've got some construction workers, nuclear engineers, mechanics, doctors, and just about anything else you can think of. Some of us are old and retired, some too young to have a license, and a lot in between. A few of us are former street racers and a few of us are cops. Men and Women from every walk of life come together to celebrate one common passion. We do exciting stuff with fun cars. Showroom stock to purpose built track cars. Four door sedans to go-karts. If you drive it, chances are we can make you smile in it. Bottom line, if any of what you just read sounds a little like you then you just found your next family. Just be warned... Once you join this family, you might not look at driving the same way ever again.
If you are wondering what Autocross is, then let us give you a simple answer. Imagine a driving sport where you drive at the edge of grip without the risks of other traffic or legal troubles. Imagine turning so sharp that the average driver would spin out, but you learn to keep control. Imagine moments of pushing your gas pedal all the way to the floor followed by slamming on the brakes. That is Autocross! Now imagine comparing your time on course to other drivers in all types of cars grouped together and competing against each other in classes and using a handicapping system. Our events are held on closed sites because it wouldn't be safe otherwise. Our home site is the Tri-City Raceway at Red Mountain Event Center in West Richland. We setup our courses using traffic cones that add time to your lap if you hit them. Most importantly, we drive cars the way they are capable of, but rarely experienced. If you have a car you enjoy and want to take your skill to the highest level, Autocross is what you have been searching for!!!
