MEETING MINUTES
AUG 11, 2004
12 members were in attendance when Mitch Lewis, el President, called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
Bob Bromm, Treasurer, presented the financial health of the club. Year to date our gross revenue has been $7400, gross profit from operations has been $3100, and our net earnings has been $1400 after accounting for our new timing lights and FM transmitter. At the end of July we had $4900 in our checking account and $4100 in certificates of deposit.
Gene Wattenburger is going to look into the cost/feasibility of our club holding a track day event at Spokane Raceway Park. SRP's road course is already open one Friday per month; maybe we could just attend one of those? Open topped cars may need an approved/inspected roll bar. More details will follow.
We need to start looking for sponsors for next year and come up with ideas for this year's awards ceremony. If you know any businesses that might be interested in being a sponsor next season, contact Mitch Lewis. Vickie Livengood is coordinating the awards banquet; send any ideas to her. This year we want to have a more up-scale event, not just pizza and beer. A tentative date of Oct. 30th has been set.
Hasting night, Friday the 13th, will be followed by our Practice event at Dust Devils baseball stadium on Saturday the 14th. Dust Devils management has graciously set a cost of only $200 for a single day and $300 for a 2-day event! Hastings night brought out a dozen club members and a few dozen visitors. (Editors Note: Hastings Night must have worked a little because we saw quite a few new faces participate in Saturday's event)
The FM Transmitter is ready (thanks to Gene Wattenburger!) and the PA system is repaired (thanks Victor Livengood!) (Editors Note: They both worked flawlessly on Saturday. Bob drove to McDonalds for lunch about a mile away and could still hear the announcer clearly)
There will be a Northwest Region SCCA (Seattle folks) autocross at Hampton Mills in Packwood, WA on September 25Ð 26. The Crest Trail Lodge, 800-477-5339, is supposed to be walking distance from the course. A number of our members are planning to attend to run on what could become the Northwest's new premier autocross site. (and it's a lot closer than driving to Bremerton!)
Mitch reported that a number of people from around our state have been discussing the idea of a Washington State Autocross Series (Wild Wild West Championship was suggested for the name). The idea is to hold one event in Seattle, Yakima, Packwood, Tri-Cities, and Spokane, with the winner being determined from the best 3 out of 5. Trophies would be awarded at a year-end ceremony held in a central location.
The meeting was adjourned shortly before 8:00 PM.
